Context

It is important that we understand some relevant history or we are likely to continue repeating it…

The Homestead Act of 1862 took land from indigenous tribes to give to white people who wanted to homestead. This was part of a broader US policy of genocide directed at indigenous peoples that continues to this day.

Many new homesteaders are wealthy people moving into rural areas and buying up prime land. This results in increased taxes, rents, and an overall increased cost of living for locals that makes it a struggle to continue living where they’ve lived for generations.

10% of profits will be directed towards indigenous organizations.
